2012 Accomplishments

Dear Members and Friends of the House of Panama:

Your House of Panama has continued to work toward building a museum in Balboa Park by accomplishing the following:

• Events
• Participated in the House of Pacific Relations Officer Installation Dinner on January 21, 2012
• Hosted the Hall of Nations on March 11, June 26, August 12, September 23, and December 30, 2012
• Participated in the Ethnic Food Fair on May 27, 2012
• Hosted the 3rd Annual House of Panama’s Fathers Day Picnic on June 17, 2012
• Marched in the 4th of July parade in Coronado with the Panamanian Marching Band of California
• Held the House of Panama’s Lawn Program on August 12, 2012
• Marched in the 9th Annual Panama Independence Day Parade in Los Angeles on October 27, 2012
• Participated in the House of Pacific Relations International Christmas Festival and International Spirits Garden on December 7-8, 2012
• Scholarships
• Awarded a total of $1,500 in scholarships to 5 university students: 
• Dance Performance
• Sonares de Mi Tierra danced in the Verbena de Gastronomía y Folklore Latinoamericano Tijuana, Mexico on August 25, 2012
• Sonares de Mi Tierra danced in the International Hispanic Heritage Celebration in San Marcos on Sunday, September 23, 2012
• Other
• Worked with La Jolla Country Day School to evaluate the HOP website on August 27, 2012
• Participated in the Southern California Combined Federal Campaign – HOP # 48780
• Selected HOP’s Queen Victoria Marie Mendoza Arenas and Princess Nadia Glorian Barrios Sáenz to participate in the HPR’s Queens Coronation at the Towne & Country Hotel on November 17, 2012
• Raffled two round-trip tickets on Copa Airlines from LA to Panama and a week at a beach house in Las Tablas to winner Meagan Cahill on December 30, 2012
